Romulus Old Vine Shiraz
Wine
Sons of Eden Romulus Old Vine Shiraz draws from a selection of sustainably managed vineyards throughout the Barossa Valley. To qualify for the Romulus blend, the vines must be at least 50 years old.
Romulus Old Vine Shiraz and its brother Remus Old Vine Shiraz (from the Eden Valley) are named after the legendary founders of Rome. In the fable, Romulus is the more powerful; his namesake displays classic Barossa power.
The fruit is destemmed and crushed into small open topped fermenters to be chilled. The batches see a range of hand plunging techniques to ensure each parcel expresses its vineyard of origin.
Once pressed the wine matures for 20 months in a mix of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads, without racking. It is then blended, naturally clarified and bottled unfiltered.
Deep garnet, Sons of Eden Romulus Old Vine Shiraz has powerful and fleshy dark fruit flavours with chewy textured tannins providing focus on the finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
